amateur is right
21 07 2004As I mentioned a day or so ago on here, last night my buddy Chris was going to try his hand at amateur night at a local comedy club. Well, we found out last night that before they let you go on stage, you have to go the week before and just watch for one night, then submit a sort of application to get up there, so instead of watching him, we just watched a bunch of really bad comedians.
The guy who was hosting the show for the club seemed like he was just pulled out of the crowd, and was one of the least funny people all night, which is saying quite a bit. There were a few people that had one or two laugh-out-loud jokes, but by and large everyone was terrible, which makes me very confident that Chris is going to go up there and knock ‘em dead.
Oh, and dinner at the club last night? We ordered a personal pizza, chicken nachos, a Corona, and a Coke and it was $19.50.
I’ve got a “practical” exam in K201 tonight; basically we work on these simulated Excel files and have to do what the computer tells us to do. I hate taking these things because there are about three ways to do everything in Excel and the computer doesn’t recognize all of them, so if I try and use a shortcut key, it’s very possible I’ll lose points for not using the menu system. It’s pretty jank (thanks for that term, Mike), but there’s not really anything I can do about it, so I’ll just have to try to remember to not do things the fast way..

I don’t know if I like the pop-up comments.
Sorry, you didn’t have very many laughs.
That would be difficult to sit through.
Maybe ‘you’ll’ have better luck next time!!!
I think your new sight is very nice, and your pictures are great! It did take a couple of trys for the comment area to come up. Well, good luck on your test! I also have trouble following directions and doing things step by step! But who cares, you should actually get extra points for thinking outside of the box and forging your own path.
I don’t know how I feel about the pop-up comments either, especially since I still need to tweak some stuff in getting the window sized properly and all that, but Sarah asked for it, and it was really easy to implement, so I’m trying it out. It’s valuable comments like yours that help me make decisions on how the site should work.
Kim, thanks for the word of encouragement about the test. Sadly, I don’t think that “thinking outside the box” (or outside the bun, if you like Taco Bell) will merit any extra points in the majority of my classes.
