speedy gonzalez my ass
18 03 2005When I was in Cancun last month, I bought some postcards and three stamps my first day there and mailed a couple out the next day by giving them to the clerks at the front desk of the hotel. The day before we left, I still had an unused stamp, so I just wrote my home address on one of the cards, left the message area blank, and gave it to the desk clerks to mail out.
Well, I came home, a couple weeks went by, and the people I sent postcards to still hadn’t received them. I had forgotten all about the fact that I had sent one to myself until just a few days ago.
I went out to the mailbox when I got home after work yesterday, and I’ll be damned if that postcard wasn’t in there.
Date mailed: February 14th
Date received: March 17th
I guess it’s sort of funny that it was both mailed and received on a holiday, but a month to mail a postcard? Good lord.

I guess that means that if anyone you know moves out of the country you will have to make sure that their birthday and Christmas cards are mailed out WAYYYYY ahead of time, huh?
I believe it is what they call a “Mexican Minute”!
