st. patricks day

As you’re all likely aware, today is St. Patrick’s Day, which serves as yet another float in the parade of pointless holidays that marches on throughout the year. It’s supposed to be a celebration for St. Patrick (duh), the patron saint of Ireland, and was originally celebrated by the Irish and those of Irish descent. Most people who celebrate it now just use it as a reason to go out and get drunk on green beer, which is A-okay with me, I guess. I do have a problem with something like this, which just seems completely pointless to me, and can’t possibly be good for the environment.

For anyone who’s interested, The Onion has a hilarious timeline of Irish history in this week’s issue.

Arrested Development

I’ve recently started watching this show on Fox, and I have to say, it’s probably one of the funnier shows on TV right now. The writing is excellent, the pacing is fantastic, and the characters are all really well-developed. Just watch the show, you won’t be disappointed. Here’s a quick dialogue outtake from last night’s episode:

Maebe (pronounced “maybe”): “Do you know where I can get one of those gold necklaces with a ‘T’ on it?”
Michael: “That’s a cross.”
Maebe: “Across from where?”
*he shuts the door in her face*

In other entertainment news, I saw a trailer this weekend for the new movie Sin City, which comes out April 1. It’s based on the Frank Miller comic series of the same name (which I am unfamiliar with). There’s a ton of A-list celebrities in this one (check out the cast on the IMDb link) and it looks really interesting. Check out the trailer here.

strange, but true

Actual sentence just overheard in a conversation right outside my office: “We should probably try to scrounge up some more nipples.”
