spoof source explained

I’m a huge fan of Family Guy (duh), and while I “get” the overwhelming majority of the jokes on the show, every once in awhile I feel like one goes over my head. One of the biggest head-scratchers for me was this clip where a tuxedoed Stewie does a strange version of Elton John’s “Rocketman.” I knew this had to come from somewhere, but the source material has always been a mystery to me. Until now.

The clip is instantly made much more hilarious after you watch a younger William Shatner do the exact same thing at a science fiction film awards show in 1978/9. Enjoy.

Family guy is one of those shows that, more often then any show, has me laughing so hard people ask me if I’m all right. Like when Stewie farted the other night, his right eye went red and he feared he broke a blood vessal. It was so gross yet funny that I nearly died laughing. So sad we lost time with it being pulled off the air but glad to have it back. I need to pick up the seasons on DVD one of these days.

You know ever since we watched all those episodes over at your house, I try to catch it anytime I remember it’s on; it’s hilarious!!! I can’t belive they took it off the air at one point. Oh and I hope you post as soon as you get done jumping from 5,000 ft., we’re all waiting to hear about it!
