premonition
12 02 2007The other night (I’m pretty sure it was Friday), I had a dream that the building I work in was on fire. Despite the fact that having this craphole burn down would probably increase the overall property value of this parcel of land, it would be bad for me since I’d obviously be out of a place to work. The not working wouldn’t be too bad, I suppose, but the not receiving a paycheck would not be a good thing. But it was just a dream, so nothing to worry about.
Maybe.
I came in this morning and was told almost immediately by the only other person in the office that we were without running water. After something that happened a couple weeks ago, my immediate thought was that maybe I had forgotten to pay our water bill and they shut it off, but I didn’t recall seeing a water bill anytime lately and quickly ruled that out. The only other explanation was that we had a frozen pipe somewhere, which seemed unlikely since it had been considerable warmer this weekend than in the past week or so, although it was still below freezing pretty much all weekend.
It’s been two and a half hrs and everyone has accepted the frozen pipe as the most likely reason for the water outage. In an effort to correct this, some of our shop employees are in front of the building at our water meter, blasting it with hot air from one of those portable kerosene heaters that looks like a small jet engine. This is right in front of my window, which happens to be the exact same spot I saw smoke coming from in my dream before the building became engulfed in flames. So right now I’m just sort of waiting for a reason to call the fire department. In the evet that my craphole office becomes a craphole smoking hole in the ground, let me know if you guys know of any place that is hiring.
